Title in English: "Municipalization or Division for Private Property". This book derives its fame from the fact that Lenin adamantly disagreed with its views. M. Shanin was a social-democrat who believed that what Russian agriculture needed most was technological improvement with important changes in ownership structures but without total nationalization. Lenin insisted on total collectivization of Russian agriculture. In 1920/1921 Lenin got what he wanted, with as a result the infamous famine of 1921 in which over 5 million Russians died of starvation. This is the original publication of this book.
